Android 4.1 / 5.0 Jelly Bean Images Leaked

Ahead of Google Nexus Tablet Release Date

It has been accepted as a foregone conclusion that the Google Nexus Tablet release date is just around the corner, following a string of leaks, accredited whispers and indeed a dose of educated guesswork. When and where said release date comes about, one of the most striking adornments the Google Nexus Tab is expected to carry will of course be Android 4.1 Jelly Bean – or Android 5.0 as some have already dubbed the new OS.

However, the debate as to what exactly Android Jelly Bean will serve up in its own right rages on today, even with only a matter of days to go until Google’s I/O and the likely arrival of the Nexus Tablet. In fact, such in the impatience of some Android devotees that even at this last-second stage in the build-up, supposed ‘leaked’ screenshots of Android Jelly Bean have made their way onto the web.

While the recently publicized shots do not exactly offer up a comprehensive picture of Android Jelly Bean or indeed the Google Nexus Tablet as a whole, they would appear to confirm that the new OS is more of a minor upgrade than a full-on revamp. In fact, the images would seem to suggest that those hedging their bets on the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean moniker may be onto something.

On the other hand of course, the ‘leaked’ images could be just as fraudulent as the thousands of others that have come our way over recent months, though at the 11th hour one has to question why any would really go through the trouble only to be discredited days later.

That being said, stranger things happen in the Android community every day!

Spec-wise, the Google Nexus Tablet is expected to serve up a 7-inch screen, quad-core Tegra 3 processor and up to 1GB of dedicated RAM – all for a delightfully reasonable $199.

Google is likely to launch the Nexus Tab or at very least offer a confirmed release date at its I/O event next week on June 27th.

How to install the LG UI 3.0 Launcher on any Android phone or tablet

Have you seen LG’s latest proprietary UI? The LG UI 3.0 really looks great and it’s very smooth, too. If you are bored with your current UI and you’ve been imagining what the LG UI 3.0 would look like on your device, imagine no more. It’s available for all Android devices so you can try it no matter what your device is.

Many people are scrambling to get the amazing goodies brought by the Samsung Galaxy S3, just like the TouchWiz 5 which has already been ported to several Android devices, and it’s not going to stop until everyone gets her or his share.

On the other hand, LG’s latest proprietary UI, which was seen on its latest and upcoming devices, doesn’t need to be ported anymore because XDA Developers member Impact7 has created a brilliant way to install it on all Android devices.

The LG UI 3.0 Launcher is quite impressive; it’s smooth and it includes some unique features of its own which you won’t normally find in other UIs. For instance, it has unique customization features like screen effects, themes support, the ability to rearrange icons in the apps menu and/or grouping them together, and the ability to shift between scrolling and non-scrolling wallpaper, circularly scrolling home screens, and more.

This UI is really worth checking out. If you want to try this UI, see the requirements and instructions below.

Requirements

An Android phone or tablet running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS). You can check your device’s Android version by going to Settings > About phone/tablet.
Backup all personal data on your phone to make sure you have a copy of your personal data (e.g., contacts, SMS, MMS, Internet settings, Wi-Fi passwords, and the like) in case the procedure in this guide erases such data.
For backup tips, check our guides on how to sync your data to the cloud and how to create local backups of your mobile data.
Make sure that your battery has at least 50% charge to avoid interruption due to power loss.

Enable Unknown Sources on your phone/tablet, which can be found under Settings > Security. Turning on this security feature will allow you to install applications from your SD card.
Open your device’s file manager app and browse for the LGHome3HDPI.apk file.
Tap on the file to start the installation procedure. It should finish in less than a minute.
Once the installation is done, you can now launch the UI by pressing the Home button then selecting Home.

Great! You can now enjoy the latest LG UI 3.0 Launcher on your phone or tablet. Try it on your other devices too and share it with your friends.

Acer battles iPad with A700: a $450 full HD Android tablet

Acer has a response to Apple’s new iPad with Retina Display and it’s called the A700. The 10.1-inch tablet offers a high-definition resolution of 1,920 by 1,200 powered by a Tegra 3 processor and Google Android 4.0 software. With 32 GB of internal storage and a memory expansion slot, the A700 is priced at $450, making it a good value for Android tablet buyers.

Acer has long been known as a value brand, often selling comparable products at relatively lower prices than its peers and competitors. To do so, Acer occasionally cuts a few corners with either missing or limited features or lower quality parts here and there. As I look through the specifications, however, no examples of this jump out at me.

The 16:10 aspect screen offers 178-degree viewing angles and 224 pixels per inch, which isn’t bad. The Tegra 3 chip has already proven its performance in the Asus Transformer Prime, so it should do well in the A700. Battery life is rated at 10.5 hours of video playback or eight hours of web browsing. GPS, Bluetooth (version 2.1 only) and an e-compass are in the Wi-Fi slate. A micro HDMI port supports audio and video output to digital televisions along with Dolby Mobile 3 and 5.1-channel surround sound. And the device runs on Google’s newest version of Android with a full gigabyte of memory.

Acer says customers in the U.S. and Canada can pre-order the A700 starting today. While I don’t see potential iPad buyers jumping on Acer’s newest slate by the thousands, the A700 does sound like an attractive — and reasonably priced — tablet for the Android crowd.

CONFIRMED: Asus + Google 7” Nexus Tab IS Coming

7” Google Nexus tab is to be revealed this month.

Thats according to an Asus exec who tipped off Android Authority about the imminent arrival of the (long rumoured) tablet decked out with 'Droid Ice Cream Sandwich, Nvidia quad-core Tegra 3 processor, ULP GeForce graphics card.

The revelation was made at Computex last week by Asus who are long believed to be behind Google first tablet, confirming all will be revealed by June end.

This means 7" tab could be launched Google I/O conference in San Francisco, kicking off 27-29th June.

And the 7" inch tablet with 1,280 x 768 res tab will be bargain tab (if Asus + Google get it right), and sell for between US$150 -$250, reports indicate.

And on the OS front, it will be upgraded to Android 4.1 as soon as it becomes available, although may be a surprise to some who were expecting the new tab to run Jelly Bean 5.0.

Samsung was behind the high spec'd Google Nexus smartphone released late last year, so it will be interesting how the Asus-Google tab will fare.

The Nexus will be Google's answer to Amazon 7" Kindle Fire tab which retails for $199 in the US and runs on older version of Android.
